Here is a selection of floor sculptures made out of reclaimed wood from my “Flow” series. The rich and evocative range of visual texture and flowing lines is achieved by laminating several wood boards together, and then carved as one piece. Often, I skip the step of making a detailed drawing, I rather use the carving tools to “draw” directly into the wood - playing with the different colors and following the grain lines of each wood layer. Each sculpture showcases the unique character and beautiful flaws of the old reclaimed wood I use, making each piece a truly one-of-a-kind artwork. Even if I would try, I could not make the same sculpture twice - each piece of wood is unique and guides me in the process, while I try to discover what it wants to be.
