A few months ago, I completed a corporate art commission for Delta Dental Headquarters in Oakland, CA. The name of the sculpture is “10,000 Years” - it is made from 100 pieces of old-growth reclaimed redwood, with about 100 growth rings each, representing 10,000 years of growth. The sculpture is located in a lobby area on a platform with large windows in the background. I really like the setting because the organic shape and material of the sculpture connects the modern edgy design of the space with the beautiful facades of the traditional buildings in the background. The negative space of the artwork allows it to be “present” without blocking the spectacular view to the outside. I worked with art consultant ArtlyOwl on this project and I could not be more pleased with the outcome. If you are interested in a sculpture commission for your office, please contact me.
